Playstation 4 and XBone Launch: Imminent!

Its that time again! The beginning of a new video game console generation and its just around the corner!

The Playstation 4 and Xbone are two very beautifully designed and powerful pieces of hardware that will gracefully usher in the next generation of video game console magic.

It just comes down to which one suits your gaming preferences better.

PS4 Benefits

Cheaper Price Tag

At a cool one hundred dollars cheaper than the XBone this could be the major reason you pick up a PS4 over XBone this holoday season.

Release Date

The Playstation 4 will launch on November 15th,2013 in North America, giving it a one week head start over the XBone that will launch on November 22nd, 2013.

Speed

The PS4 is rumoured to have 8GB of DDR 5 ram, in comparison to XBone's 8GB of DDR 3 ram.

Controller

The PS4 controller has been heavily improved over the dualshock 3.
This time implementing better rear L1/R1 and L2/R2 buttons, a greatly improved thumb stick and the brand new touch control in the centre of the game pad.

Stronger North American Presence

The Xbox 360 was an enormous hit in the previous generation, aside from its initial problems with the red ring of death the system went on to sell more consoles that the PlayStation 3, due to a great library of games and excellent on-line play.

Xbox Live

Xbox live was an amazing on-line experience with cross game chat, avatars and superior exclusive DLC content. The Xbox live community will most likely remain the reason the majority of gamers choose xbox over PlayStation in the coming generation.

Controller

The Xbox 360 controller is the most beautifully crafted controller to ever hit store shelves.
Microsoft did an exceptional job at learning from the mistakes of the original Xbox controller and completely redesigned the Xbox 360's model to be the best gaming controller it could be.

Kinect

Microsoft may have a higher price tag associated with the Xbox one, however it does so for a specific purpose. The inclusion of kinect in the box is a great way to innovate and change the way we play games.
This way since everyone will now have one, Microsoft can tap into the power of kinect and make it the huge success they have been planning it to be for the last 4 years.

Both consoles are architecturally beautiful and boast an extreme amount of horsepower ready to power any next gen game you have in mind. However we still haven't gone over the main reason to buy and XBone or a PS4, and that would be..

Games

Both Microsoft and Sony have some pretty big first party studios ready to launch some incredible games over the next 6 - 18 months. Microsoft has the exclusive Titan Fall and Halo series, while Sony has Infamous Second Son and Killzone Shadow fall.

Both companies have incredible first party studios that will no doubt turn out incredible AAA experiences within the next generation of consoles lifetimes.

There's only one way to see how the console wars will go, but for now I am proclaiming the gamer to be the winner.

Hello People of Earth!

Well hello there to all the beautiful people reading this very first blog post!

I guess I'll get things started by talking about some really cool rad stuff that I like and hopefully you guys like as well.

Today's topic.

Pokemon X and Y!

So October is generally the most exciting time of year for me, the leaves are changing colours, the air is nice and crisp.. and there's a slew of kick ass video games that generally launch around this time.

This October I was consumed by Pokemon Y.

My lawd, was this game ever fantastic.. The new game play mechanics and improved graphics made the game an honest to goodness treat every time I fired it up.

I was really impressed by the way the game managed to maintain its normal speed when entering into a wild battle, that was one of my primary concerns when seeing the new game engine in game play trailers.

Pokemon X and Y are fantastic games, however I will say they do not feel finished..
After beating the elite 4,  there really isn't a whole lot to do.. You get battle maison and the friend safari.
These two features are great inclusions for the post game, however with games like pokemon Heart Gold and Soul Silver having an entire additional content to discover after defeating the initial 8 gyms was something they really need to bring back.. Also, I really cannot stand these new fairy types..

However overall the game is a fantastic step in the right direction, with the ability to start an on line battle anywhere any time facing off against players from around the world.
(However it seems that everyone uses the exact same cookie cutter teams these days..)

Mega evolutions were the big new feature in this game, with many popular existing pokemon getting mega evolutions, such as; Gengar, Garchomp, Gyarados, Tyranitar, Charizard, Blastoise, Venusaur and my all time favourite Scizor! There are plenty more I haven't mentioned, for the full list check out serebii.

This series continues to be my all time favourite and its good to see they are taking a step in the right direction, I can't wait to see what they have planned for the next version!
